"Etching" refers to the etched metal printing plate used to print the image: the design is literally burned into the plate using acid. This is a very laborious and extremely skilled process. The etched plate is then run through an etching press in contact with a sheet of damp paper. The press exterts thousands of pounds of pressure onto the plate, squeezing the ink from the etched surface and onto the paper. It also physically embosses the shape of the plate into the paper.
Can be supplied in oe of our solid pine framed (hand made bespoke frame in our signature waxed black) with print mounted on wide, bevel cut mountboard.
Also available as an open edition giclee reproduction print: signed, but not numbered and lacks the embossed impression of the printing plate. Marked "authorised reproduction" on the reverse. 300gsm paper ensures a high-quality feel and durable finish for art enthusiasts.
